Volunteers Needed – Kendall Regional Medical Center is currently seeking volunteers from the community to assist in all areas of the hospital, including office and patient care. Lymphedema Support Group Free Lymphedema Support Group on the third Wednesday of every month (April 19th, May 17th and June 21st). Laura Castroviejo, RPT, CDT and Marina Maduro, RPT, CDT discusses the different treatments and therapies available to those who suffer from this condition. Lymphedema is a condition characterized by an abnormal accumulation of protein-rich fluid in a body part, most often an extremity, but it can also occur in the face, neck, abdomen and lungs. The condition is caused by congenital or acquired dysfunction of the lymphatic system. For location and time please call 305-227-5589.

Lupus Support Group Meets on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7 .p.m. in the hospital’s Conference Center located on the 7th floor of the Atrium Medical Office Building in Suite 758. Gaby De Francisco of the Lupus Foundation of America leads the session. Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to attack its own body tissue and organs. Between 500,000 1.5 million Americans live with the disease. Many have a mild version that affects only a few organs. For others, lupus can cause life-threatening complications.
