HCA Healthcare: Aventura Hospital and Medical Center, Cedars Hospital & Medical Center, and Kendall Regional Medical Center

HCA Healthcare 24/7 Nurse Line: HCA healthcare offers Miami-Dade County seniors with a 24 hour nurse information line which is free of charge. This service is offered in both English and Spanish. To contact HCA's nurse line, please call 305 325 5000.

HCA Healthcare (Health Happiness and You - Los Saludables): H2U / Los Saludables is a membership program designed to meet the unique health needs of adults in Miami-Dade.  H2U empowers members to manage their health and enjoy a healthy lifestyle. The local H2U programs are affiliated with Kendall Regional Medical Center, Aventura Hospital & Cedars Medical Center, all of which are leading healthcare providers in this area. The H2U program offers disease prevention education, healthy lifestyles training, self-care seminars, injury prevention instruction, as well as flu immunizations. Kendall Regional Medical Center Free Blood Pressure Screenings: Every Tuesday at Kendall Regional Medical Center, located at 11750 Bird Road, Miami, FL, free blood pressure screenings will be offered to the public in the Outpatient Department located on the 2nd floor in the Patient Tower. Kendall Regional Medical Center Walking Club: Join Kendall Regional Medical Center at the Miami International Mall’s Food Court every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 am – 10:00 for a healthy walk and savings on your health. For more information, call 305 222 2200.

Alliance for Aging:

Elder Helpline: The Elder Helpline provides a single contact point within Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties for people seeking the answers to questions about aging issues and the services and opportunities available to older adults.  In addition, the Elder Helpline is involved in the ElderLinks project with various Fire Rescue Departments.  Through this special program, fire rescue workers responding to a 911 call that turns out to be NON-MEDICAL are able to refer these clients to the Elder Helpline rather than bringing them to the Emergency Room. SHINE Program: The Florida Department of Elder Affairs provides Medicare & health insurance information to elders & caregivers. SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) is part of a national network of state health insurance programs funded through grants from the Health Care Financing Administration. The department offers the SHINE program at no cost to Miami-Dade seniors which includes specifically-trained counseling and information about your Medicare and health insurance coverage. Coalition to Prevent Abuse of Vulnerable Adults (CPAVA):The Coalition is a multi-disciplinary organization whose purpose is to promote and maintain an informed Miami-Dade community that recognizes and prevents abuse, neglect and exploitation of its vulnerable adult residents. The Coalition facilities the necessary countywide inter-organizational cooperation and coordination needed to accomplish this. The Family Caregiver Support Program: The Family Caregiver Support Program provides assistance to family caregivers who are in crisis situations and helps them navigate through a complex system of service delivery.  The Family Caregiver Support Specialist assists with information, referral to community services, long term care, consumable medical supplies and counseling. The program is also involved with Grandparents Raising Grandchildren through support groups for education, advocacy and coping skills. Pfizer:

Vida Sana Healthy Life AssociationTM:The Vida Sana Healthy Life Association is a Pfizer-founded organization of local physicians dedicated to the health and wellbeing of Miami-Dade residents. These physicians are equipped with special training and resources to help seniors better understand how to manage and control common conditions such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol so that their patients may live a Vida Sana Healthy Life. Miami-Dade Parks and Recreation:

Senior Fitness in Parks: Seniors are welcome in all of Miami-Dade Parks' adult programs. The Department also has an extensive selection of sports and fitness programs and hobby and crafts classes specifically designed for seniors. Our seniors’ activities, which include sewing, ceramics, arthritis exercise and field trips, are continuous throughout the year. Miami-Dade Transit:

Golden Passport: If you are a senior citizen 65 years and older or a Social Security beneficiary and are a permanent Miami-Dade resident, you are eligible to ride transit free with a Golden Passport. If you are 65 and older, you'll receive a permanent card.

When applying for the Golden Passport, you must submit a current government-issued picture ID, such as a US passport, alien registration, Florida driver's license, or a Florida ID as proof of age; a utility bill as proof of Miami-Dade County residency. Applicants under 65 years of age must submit a current printout from the Social Security Administration verifying eligibility, and proof of continued eligibility must be provided annually.

During registration, ask about the Golden Passport Discount Booklet, which entitles Golden Passport users to great discounts at over 40 merchants. Just present the reusable coupons along with your Golden Passport at participating locations. You can also signup for the Golden Passport at many community based events throughout the county.
